Last Class!!

Hello everyone! This is my last session before student teaching in August and I am SO excited to have some time off this summer to enjoy my husband and kids!! It has been a hectic session, I also took MATH 102 and EDUC 400 along with this course, but I am almost DONE!

I really enjoyed this class. I didn't realize how many aspects there are to language arts. Doing the scope and sequence really opened my eyes to how much is included in the LA curriculum. I also really enjoyed writing my unit plan for this class. I've written several throughout my education, so I felt confident in writing it, and really focused on writing a plan that I could possible use in my 3rd grade class that I'm student teaching in in the fall. Mrs. Steffes said earlier tonight that she hoped we could actually teach our units or plans in a classroom one day, and I would love to use mine!

I enjoyed listening to everyone else's lesson plans as well and putting ideas in the memory bank:) This has been a great group of classmates to end my Columbia College journey with! Where do you guys go from here?

  1. Wow! You had a busy 8 weeks! I am in the same boat as you! I will student teach at our local school district in the third grade in August. I am also anxious to have a little bit of summer to enjoy before school starts. The kids are too, I think they are tired of Mom doing homework and our swimming time being planned around my homework level! Best of luck in the fall Parker, not that you need it! I think your students are going to love you!

    1. Hi Niki, my kids are so sick of mommy always having class in the evening and doing homework all day!! It will be amazing to have a month off! Have a great time in 3rd grade this fall:)

  2. Congratulations on being close to the finish line! I don't know how you squeezed Education 400 in. Just doing these two classes was a lot. I loved this class. Math 102 is killing me. LOL. Language Arts is my favorite subject while math is my nemesis.

    1. Susan MATH 102 is killing me too!! It is hard to imagine we will teach that stuff in the elementary classroom, but I guess we are learning more than just math... We are almost done!!

  3. I've done the three classes at the same time a couple of times but I can't imagine doing it with 400 being one of those classes! You ROCK! Like you and Niki, I student teach in the fall in third grade. Unfortunately I still have one session left before student teaching (it will start before the session is over) so I am taking a short vacation to STL next week before the late summer class starts. I'll be doing class from a hotel room! Good luck student teaching, you'll do great!

  4. Isn't that awesome. I am glad you found purpose in writing the lesson plans for yourself. I really hope that it remains at least that simple and easy for you when you start teaching.
